SACRAMENTO – Assembly Speaker Toni G. Atkins today took part in Operation Dress Code, a statewide clothing drive to collect professional clothing for women veterans.

“We owe a tremendous debt to everyone who wears the uniform – even after they’ve taken it off,” said Speaker Atkins (D-San Diego). “Many veterans, especially younger veterans and women veterans, continue to experience challenges finding jobs. It’s important to take every chance we can to help veterans cross the finish line from applicant to employee. By donating dresses, skirts, jackets, suits and shoes we can help women veterans transition from military uniforms to civilian careers.”

Noting the need for women veterans to have professional clothing for job interviews, Speaker Atkins said “corporate is the new camo.” The Dress Code clothing drive ends August 15.

Operation Dress Code is collecting suits, blouses, shoes, handbags, and jewelry for women. Drop-off locations are statewide and can be found at
