SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Wesley Chesbro (D-North Coast), author of California's newly adopted landmark recycling law (AB 341) and Chair of the Assembly Natural Resources Committee, today released the following statement regarding the appointment of Caroll Mortensen as director of the State's Department of Resource Recovery and Recycling (CalRecycle):

"Caroll Mortensen is an outstanding choice to lead California's recycling efforts," Chesbro said. "As a state, we are about to move to the next level of waste reduction and recycling with a national leading goal of cutting our waste stream by 75 percent. Caroll has the skills and experience to make this new law a success."
