SACRAMENTO – Dr. Richard Pan (D-Natomas) issued the following statement today as the UC Board of Regents approved increased tuition rates for students and pay increases for administrators:
"As a legislator, I am dismayed that the UC Regents have approved a de facto tax increase on middle class families while increasing the salary and benefits of senior administrators. As a professor at UC Davis, I know these tuition increases will deter some of our best and brightest students from beginning or completing a UC education. In these difficult times, the UC Regents have voted to further burden students and their families in exchange for pay increases for administrators."
Dr. Richard Pan is a father, pediatrician, educator, small business owner and first-term Assemblymember. He represents Arden Arcade, Carmichael, the City of Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks, the City of Folsom, Granite Bay, North Highlands, McClellan Park, Orangevale, Natomas and portions of the City of Sacramento.
