SACRAMENTO –Dr. Richard Pan (D-Sacramento) issued the following statement today as Governor Jerry Brown swore in UC Berkeley law professor Goodwin Liu as a member of the California Supreme Court:
“With the swearing in of Professor Liu to the California Supreme Court, Californians can look forward to a judiciary that will provide equal justice to all people of our great state. I am also pleased with Governor Brown’s appointment because Justice Liu grew up Sacramento and I am proud to know him and his parents. Justice Liu has a uniquely talented legal mind, with the upmost respect for the rule of law and a deep understanding of the challenges facing our state. His distinguished record of careful and fair legal thinking will compliment judicial opinions that will shape our discourse for years to come.”
