SACRAMENTO - Today, Assemblymember Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) presented his 2012 Woman of the Year Award to Sausalito resident Dana King.
Dana King is an Emmy Award winning Bay Area newscaster whose stories have highlighted injustices locally and around the globe. As chair of, and chief advocate for, MarinKids, Dana’s passion for bringing equal opportunities to all children rallies the community to act. She generously uses her considerable talents as an artist and reporter to support causes critical to children and the community. Please click here for her complete bio on the MarinKids website.
“I am extremely honored to present this award to Dana King,” said Huffman. “Her career as a television journalist who has drawn public attention towards wars, natural disasters and crises around the world and then mobilizes support to help those affected is remarkable. I also want to applaud her volunteerism and community spirit in speaking out for needy children through her leadership of MarinKids to ensure they have access to comprehensive health care, nutritious food, and quality education.”

(Sacramento) – A tax loophole that allows out of state corporations to avoid paying some taxes in California may be the key to funding college educations for students in working class families. California State Assemblymember Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) says the Middle Class Scholarship program authored by Speaker John A. Pérez will help lower college tuition to public colleges and universities by 2/3, for qualified California students. Learn more in this Assembly Access Video.
