Many students think they are ineligible for help paying for college, but almost everyone can qualify for some kind of financial aid.

In collaboration with Cal-SOAP, I’ve hosted FAFSA workshop events all throughout the district, and we’re not done yet!

Please consider attending one of our final events if you or your family needs help with the FAFSA application.

Visit my website for the complete list of workshops!

Nearly half a century has passed since the voice of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. boomed across the National Mall, echoing into the hearts and minds of thousands of Americans gathered for the historic March on Washington. Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech stirred our country's collective consciousness, and continues to inspire and influence ordinary people to perform extraordinary acts of service and fortitude.

Each year, the Legislature honors Dr. King’s birthday by celebrating his vision and victories with a Concurrent Resolution. This year, I am proud to be a co-author of Assembly Concurrent Resolution (ACR) 5 to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Though we will always remember Dr. King for his prophesizing vision, his passionate calls for freedom and justice, and the path he forged toward equality, may we never forget that progress is not forged by words alone. Equality is a result of multi-racial, inter-racial, and inter-cultural community activism. It is the result of small acts of courage, service, and sometimes, sacrifice.

Please consider honoring Dr. King’s legacy by volunteering in one of the many community service projects happening this weekend. This is the legacy I truly believe Dr. King would ask of us in his memory.

If you would like to find opportunities to volunteer in our area, please contact my office at (916) 324-4676, or email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
