Hello, this is Assemblymember Cathleen Galgiani.
With the holiday season just around the corner, it’s important to remember this has been another tough year for many Californians.
While Assembly Democrats continue to focus on ways we can save and create jobs and aid unemployed Californians and help get them back to work, there are other ways all of us can make a difference this holiday season.
Throughout California local food banks and kitchens represent great opportunities for giving during the holidays.
I hope everyone will check in with your local food banks -- for giving and to make sure when they need to receive Thanksgiving donations—some food banks need donations a few days before the holiday, others can take them right up to that day.
And, of course, food banks need our help throughout the holidays -- and all year round.
In my own District in the Central Valley – including many farming communities that help feed the world – our food banks are facing unprecedented demand.
So as we prepare to give thanks for all the blessings we enjoy as individuals, families and a nation, please remember to check in with your local food bank about donating--or volunteering.
It’s a great chance for you and your family to meet and work with others in your area, and it lets us all share in the great tradition of giving back to the community.

Asambleístas Demócratas Alientan a los Californianos a Donar Durante la Época Navidad
SACRAMENTO – En el mensaje semanal, el bloque demócrata de la Asamblea estatal destaca que aunque la prioridad de la Asamblea estatal es resguardar y crear empleos, también existen otras maneras en la cual todos los californianos podríamos hacer una gran diferencia en esta época de navidad ya sea donando o haciendo trabajo voluntario en alguno de los bancos de comida de nuestra comunidad.

Que tal, a continuación el mensaje radial del bloque demócrata de la Asamblea estatal de California.
Con la época de navidad a la vuelta de la esquina, es muy importante recordar que este ha sido un año muy difícil para muchos californianos.
Y aunque los asambleístas demócratas continúan enfocándose en los diferentes caminos que sirvan para crear y resguardar el empleo, y ayudar a los californianos desempleados a volver a trabajar, existen otras maneras en la cual todos nosotros podríamos hacer una gran diferencia en esta época de navidad.
A través de todo California los bancos de comida y comedores de caridad representan una gran oportunidad para donar durante la época de navidad.
Esperamos que todos se puedan conectar con los bancos de comida de su área para donar, y la fecha para cuando necesitan su donación del “Día de Acción de Gracias”— algunos bancos de comida necesitan sus donaciones con varios días de anticipación, mientras otros tienen la capacidad de aceptar las donaciones hasta el mismo día de la celebración.
Y obviamente, los bancos de comida necesitan de nuestra ayuda a lo largo de toda la época de navidad – y también a través de todo el año.
En el Valle Central – donde muchas comunidades ayudan a alimentar al mundo – los bancos de comida se están siendo afectados por una demanda sin precedente.
Entonces así como nos preparamos para dar las gracias por todas las bendiciones que gozamos como individuos, familias y nación, por favor recuerde de verificar con su banco local sobre las donaciones o para hacer trabajo voluntario.
Es una gran oportunidad para usted y su familia para conocer y trabajar con otras personas de su área, y compartamos todos juntos la gran tradición de entregar a nuestra comunidad.
