Sacramento – Earlier this week, Assemblywoman Cathleen Galgiani (D-Livingston) formally requested information from the Legislative Analyst, Mac Taylor, via certified letter, on the genesis of the report issued by the LAO titled, “High-Speed Rail Is At a Critical Juncture”.
In her letter, Galgiani states, “While some of the recommendations issued in your report deserve consideration, the timing of your report and the recommendations therein, raise grave concerns. Guidelines for applying for ARRA funds were issued June 17, 2009 – nearly two years ago. Yet at no time during this process did officials from your office, or members of the Legislature, raise concern about the application process or the selection criteria. Your office remained silent until a decision to award billions of dollars was reached, and winners and losers were picked, leaving many regions disappointed, including my own.”
The California Public Records Act was enacted by the Legislature to ensure the public have an opportunity to monitor the functioning of their government (Government Code, Section 6250).
