The reporter of the bay made it clear that the new bill will help to lessen the mounting threats and will make it easier for the candidates, their families, the elected officials, and especially the employees to protect themselves. The East Bay assembly member introduced this bill as it is unfortunate but the need of today, which is clearly an insightful decision.

In what might be considered an unfortunate — but illustrative — coincidence of timing, an East Bay Assemblymember has introduced legislation that would make it easier for candidates, elected officials, their families and staff to provide security for themselves in the face of increasing threats.
(SACRAMENTO, CA) – In response to the rising tide of political violence in California and the United States, Assemblymember Mia Bonta (D-Oakland) introduced Assembly Bill (AB) 37 on the very first day of the 2023 legislative session to improve security for candidates, elected officials, their family, and staff.

More teachers and especially teachers of color may remain in Oakland thanks in part to $6 million from state and private sources, city officials announced Thursday morning.
Five million dollars will go toward continuing the Teachers Rooted in Oakland program. The program reduces the cost of housing for Oakland Unified School District teachers as well as prospective teachers training and earning their credential. TRiO also provides a stipend for both groups.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- California Attorney General Rob Bonta on Wednesday announced the launch of the Office of Gun Violence Prevention, a new first-of-its-kind division of the California Department of Justice.
Bonta held a press conference in San Francisco with gun safety advocates to detail the unit that will develop strategies to address gun violence at the state and local level.
