LOS ANGELES, CA – Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC) honored Assemblymember Mary Hayashi yesterday with an award for her commitment to family planning services. The award recognized her leadership and her dedication to ensuring that Californians have access to reproductive health care, especially throughout these challenging economic times.
“It’s an honor to receive this award, and I would like to thank PPAC for always working so hard to improve the health and well-being of families and communities,” stated Assemblymember Hayashi. “Having had the privilege of serving on their board, I know what a difference PPAC makes, and I highly value being able to continue working with such a great organization.”
PPAC represents nine Planned Parenthood affiliates throughout California on statewide governmental issues, promoting education, counseling, and clinical services in the fields of reproductive health care and family planning. PPAC presented awards to several elected officials at a Los Angeles reception last night, including State Controller John Chiang and Speaker Karen Bass.
Assemblymember Hayashi currently serves the 18th Assembly District, which includes San Leandro, Hayward, Dublin, most of Castro Valley and Pleasanton, and a portion of Oakland, as well as the unincorporated areas of Ashland, Cherryland, San Lorenzo and Sunol.
