As participants prepare for the Occupy Oakland Day of Action on November 2, 2011, Assemblymember Mary Hayashi (D-Hayward) stated her support for the purpose and values of the demonstration.
"I stand in full support of the peaceful protestors of Occupy Oakland and the Day of Action to achieve economic justice and jobs for the 99%," said Assemblymember Hayashi. "In the spirit of our country’s historic and powerful nonviolent protests, the Day of Action will provide an important opportunity for Californians to voice their unity for more jobs, public education, human services, and consumer protections."
Assemblymember Hayashi is the Chair of the Business, Professions, and Consumer Protection Committee and serves the 18th Assembly District, which includes San Leandro, Hayward, Dublin, most of Castro Valley and Pleasanton, and a portion of Oakland, as well as the unincorporated areas of Ashland, Cherryland, San Lorenzo and Sunol.
