Cal Grant Financial Aid Program - Guarantees financial aid based on need to every qualified student who applies.

Middle Class Scholarship - This program, recently created by the Legislature, significantly reduces fees at the California State University and University of California for families who qualify.

In order to qualify, students must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application by March 2, 2016. The California Student Aid Commission is offering workshops to help students complete their application. At these workshops, advisors will be available to discuss financial aid opportunities and assist students with completing the FAFSA form.

There will be several workshops throughout our area. My office will be co-hosting three of the upcoming Cash for College events. Students from the 20th Assembly District who are in attendance will be eligible to enter to win a $500 scholarship.

March is California Science Fair Month!

Submit to FacebookSubmit to TwitterSubmit to LinkedIn

Last year, I introduced Assembly Concurrent Resolution (ACR) 47 recognizing March as California Science Fair Month. As an Astrophysicist, I know that science fairs are often a student's first exploration into the world of science.

Science Fairs around the state emphasize the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, and the value of exploration and research conducted by young pupils in areas that interest them.

I hope that in honor of California Science Fair Month you will participate in one of our local events:

Engaged Locally and Globally: Young Climate Researchers at UC Berkeley

St. Albans Parish Hall
1501 Washington at Curtis
Albany, CA 94706
Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 7pm – 9pm
