Deeya Energy to be highlighted in Small Business Day event in Sacramento
Fremont, CA - Assemblymember Bob Wieckowski announced today that he selected Deeya Energy, a Fremont-based energy storage management firm, as the 20th Assembly District’s Small Business of the Year. The company will be showcased in small business day events in the Capitol on June 6, led by Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, Assembly Speaker John Perez, and the California Small Business Association.
“I am proud to select Deeya Energy as the 20th Assembly District’s Small Business of the Year,” said Assemblymember Wieckowski. “Deeya Energy is an innovative company that has successfully leveraged NASA research from the early 70’s to create an energy storage platform that is conducive to clean and green energy.
“This company truly serves as a powerful example of the importance of investing in research and development to create technological breakthroughs,” said Wieckowski, who serves as the co-chair of the Assembly Select Committee on California’s Clean Energy Economy. “As in Deeya’s case, these advancements can spur innovation for decades to come.”
Deeya Energy, founded in 2004, developed an energy storage platform that complements wind, solar, biomass and other renewable energy platforms by storing grid or electricity board power. This significantly reduces diesel generator usage, resulting in lower greenhouse gas emissions.
Deeya Energy has won various accolades, including being selected as the 2010 Global Cleantech 100-- Asia-Pac Top 10 Company, the AlwaysOn GoingGreen Top 100 Winner, and it was also named a Global Cleantech 100 company by Guardian News and Media.
Assemblymember Bob Wieckowski currently serves as the chair of the Committee on Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials and is a member of the Judiciary, Insurance, and PERS committees. Wieckowski was elected in November 2010 to represent the 20th Assembly District, which includes all of Fremont, Union City, Newark, Milpitas, and parts of Castro Valley, Hayward and Pleasanton.
