(SACRAMENTO) - Assemblyman Rich Gordon (Menlo Park) issued the following statement in response to the California Supreme Court's ruling on Proposition 8:
"Today the California Supreme Court ruled that Prop. 8, a proposition banning same-sex marriage in California, must be defended in court. I find this ruling disheartening, and I support the Governor and the Attorney General for refusing to defend this discriminatory measure in California Courts.
While this ruling is another bump in the road in the fight for marriage equality, I am not discouraged by this opinion. I am confident that marriage equality will be achieved. As one of the 18,000 same-sex couples who were married in that short window of opportunity, my husband and I will continue to fight for our marriage, our community, and the right to equality for all."
