The new legislative session is underway and among the more than three dozen new faces in the California Assembly is Assemblymember Jimmy Gomez (D-East Los Angeles) from the 51st district. Assemblymember Gomez was named Democratic Whip and is part of the leadership team of Speaker John A. Pérez. "It's very humbling that a kid who started off working in fast food, worked his way from up from community college to Harvard could get elected to the state legislature," said Assemblymember Gomez. "It shows what can happen when the state invests the resources to help everyone succeed." Assemblymember Gomez added the most important issues he wants to address are health care, education and jobs.
