LOS ANGELES - Assemblymember Isadore Hall, III (D – Los Angeles) has been named the 2011 Legislator of the Year by the California Gaming Association (CGA) for his legislative leadership and commitment to responsible gaming throughout the state.

Hall is also being recognized for his successful authorship of AB 241, which will extend the state's moratorium on new card room licenses until 2020. The measure, which was supported by local governments and community organizations throughout the state, received strong bi-partisan support in the Legislature and was signed into law by Governor Brown this past October.

"Assemblymember Hall has shown incredible leadership and political savvy throughout his service in the California State Assembly," said Kermit Schayltz, President of the California Gaming Association. "Hall's successful authorship of AB 241 and his skilled and insightful work as Chairman of the Assembly Governmental Organization Committee are just the latest examples of this rising star's ability to tackle difficult issues and do what's right for California."

The CGA represents licensed card club casinos throughout the state. Members of the CGA are important employers and civic partners in the communities in which they are located and provide an opportunity for players to increase their level of skill and enjoy competing with others in an enjoyable, safe and stimulating environment. Card club casinos currently employ over 20,000 people throughout California.

Hall will receive his award during the CGA's annual fall meeting on November 21 in Half Moon Bay, California.
