“Today, we’re celebrating nearly eight years of collaboration and partnerships that have culminated into a new Gerald Desmond Bridge that will be a cornerstone of our region’s leadership in international trade and our local economy. 

“The Gerald Desmond Bridge, a congressionally-designated project of national significance, is also a symbol of when good governmental stewards successfully come together to achieve a common goal.  The launch today commemorates our commitment to make sure that California ports continue to be the nation’s top trade gateways, and can adapt to vessels in the modern economy whether they be on the roads or the water. 

“I would like to again thank the California Transportation Commission for making the Gerald Desmond Bridge a priority objective for available transportation funding in California.”
