(Sacramento) – El Acta de Responsabilidad de los Padres, cuyo autor es el asambleísta Tony Mendoza (D-Norwalk), i esta siendo implementada a través del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Los Angeles. El asambleísta Mendoza presentó la propuesta de ley (AB 1291) en el 2007 y tomó efecto en Enero del 2010. El asambleísta Mendoza dice que la ley requiere que padres de familia de jovenes involucrados en pandillas se registren y asistan a clases anti-violencia de pandillas ordenadas por jueces. Assemblymember Mendoza's Parental Accountability Act Being Implemented
(Sacramento) – The Parental Accountability Act, authored by Assemblymember Tony Mendoza (D-Norwalk), is now being implemented in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Assemblymember Mendoza introduced the Parental Accountability Act (AB 1291) in 2007 and it went into effect in January 2010. Assemblymember Mendoza says the law requires parents or guardians of juveniles who have been involved in gang-related crimes to attend anti-gang parenting classes. Those classes include face-to-face meetings with victims' families, ideas on extracurricular activities, and information on identifying criminal tendencies in their children. Assemblymember Mendoza: Parental Accountability Act Being Implemented in LA
(Los Angeles) –Assemblymember Tony Mendoza's (D-Norwalk) Parental Accountability Act was the focus of a lengthy segment recently on Los Angeles television station KTTV Channel 11. The Parental Accountability Act, which requires parents and/or guardians of convicted gang members to attend parenting classes and meet with families who have been victimized by gang violence, is now being implemented in the Los Angeles Unified School District and will expand statewide over time. "The time has come to hold parents accountable and give parents the resources they need to help their children," says Assemblymember Mendoza. Helping Parents Keep Their Children Away from Gangs and Crime
(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Tony Mendoza (D-Norwalk) was interviewed recently by the news program Time Warner Cable Local Edition. During the interview Assemblymember Mendoza was asked about a law he authored in 2007 (Assembly Bill 1291) that allows judges to send the parents of a juvenile convicted of a crime to parenting classes. Assemblymember Mendoza says the curriculum for the parenting classes has now been developed and it will be implemented in the Los Angeles Unified School District this fall.
