WHITTIER, CA - Assemblymember Ian Calderon will host the 57th Assembly District Student Digital Media Competition Festival on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Whittier Center Theatre in the City of Whittier.
“I am proud of all the students who have participated in the Student Digital Media Competition,” stated Assemblymember Calderon. “They have demonstrated their creativity, as well as their passion and commitment to educating our community about human rights.”

(Los Angeles) - In a newly released video, Assemblymembers Ian Calderon (D-Whittier), Al Muratsuchi (D-Torrance) and Das Williams (D-Santa Barbara) — all members of an informal Assembly "Surf Caucus" — encourage Californians to participate in Earth Day events and conservation of our state's 1,100 miles of coastline. All while carving up waves on several California beaches. Theme: Enlightenment from Loss – Lessons on Human Rights
Students are encouraged to showcase their talents and creative spirit while raising awareness and educating their community about human rights issues.

All films will be shown during a film festival honoring Holocaust and Armenian Genocide Remembrance Weeks.
Films will be eligible for scholarship awards.
Assemblymember Calderon will also provide a legislative update on Assembly Concurrent Resolution 12 (ACR 12) designating March 2013 as Arts Education Month.
WHITTIER, CA – Assemblymember Calderon, in partnership with the California Transportation Department (Caltrans), the City of Norwalk, and Los Angeles County Metro, will be hosting a town hall meeting on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to discuss the Interstate 5 South Corridor Improvement Projects. The town hall will be held at the Norwalk Arts & Sports Complex in the Sproul Room located on 13000 Clarkdale Avenue in Norwalk.
When this week started, Assemblyman Ian Calderon knew Tuesday was going to be a big day for him. Three of his bills were going to get their first test in committee.
It went well as all three were approved. The three bills now go to the Assembly Appropriations Committee. In order to become law, each must be approved by the Assembly and Senate and signed by the governor.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Ian Calderon (D-Whittier) was appointed by Speaker John A. Pérez today as Chair the Select Committee on Youth and California's Future and to serve on the Joint Committee on Arts.
Calderon was also designated by Speaker Perez as an appointee to the California Cultural and Historical Endowment. The California Cultural and Historical Endowment was established at the California State Library in 2003 to enrich California's historic and cultural preservation program and preserve the many historic treasures that are California's cultural legacy.
SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Ian Calderon introduced Assembly Bill 303 (AB 303) today, a measure that expands financial aid access for veterans.
“We want to make sure that those who have chosen to serve their country will have access to financial aid when they return from service and would like to pursue a postsecondary education,” stated Assemblymember Ian Calderon. “Financial aid will help returning members of the Armed Forces afford the cost of education and prepare them to reintegrate into society as productive citizens.”
