Assembly "Surf Caucus" Encourages Participation in Earth Day

(Los Angeles) - In a newly released video, Assemblymembers Ian Calderon (D-Whittier), Al Muratsuchi (D-Torrance) and Das Williams (D-Santa Barbara) — all members of an informal Assembly "Surf Caucus" — encourage Californians to participate in Earth Day events and conservation of our state's 1,100 miles of coastline. All while carving up waves on several California beaches. Assemblymember Calderon Announces New Student Film Competition

(Sacramento) – California State Assemblymember Ian Calderon (D-Whittier) is sponsoring “Film Fest,” a film competition for students who reside in the 57th Assembly District.  This year’s competition theme, “Enlightenment from Loss – Lessons on Human Rights” will focus on original films by high school students about past and present genocides.  The deadline to apply is April 26th.  Learn more in this Assembly Access Video.

Assemblymember Calderon Urges Students to Apply for Cal Grants

(Sacramento) – College is expensive. For many students, a higher education may seem out of reach due to financial difficulties. In this PSA, California State Assemblymember Ian Calderon (D-Whittier) tells eligible students that Cal Grants can help them achieve their goal of a college education. The deadline to apply is March 2.

Newly Sworn in Assemblymember Calderon Says Governing is a Community Effort

(Sacramento) – A historic freshman class of thirty nine State Assemblymembers were sworn-in to the California State Assembly for the 2013-14 legislative session. Among them was Democrat Ian Calderon of Whittier. The newly sworn Assemblymember states that he is excited to continue his family’s tradition of public service and is humbled by his constituents’ trust. Assemblymember Calderon stressed that governing is a team effort and urged his community to contact him and become an active participant in the process of democracy.
