AB 1686 (Arrest Authorizations): Strengthened the relationship between local police and private property owners. Extended the arrest authorization form from six to twelve months not only strengthens the validity of the form, but also significantly reduces the administrative time for the police departments processing them. Additionally, extending the arrest authorization allows owners to file the form only once a year, while keeping properties free from unwanted individuals for a period of 12 months.

AB 1700 (Elderly Protection-Reverse Mortgages): Protected prospective reverse mortgage borrowers by assuring that all clients have consulted with a HUD-approved reverse mortgage counselor, and have discussed the items of the loan, and items of the reverse mortgage worksheet guide at least seven days prior to finalizing the loan. Allowing a seven day cooling off period—evidenced by the date of a counseling certificate—between the time of counseling, and the time to proceed with the loan would provide the elderly client with much needed time to review and discuss the numerous documents, fees, signed disclosures, and potential outcomes with their families.
