SACRAMENTO—Legislation authored by Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside) and Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) passed through the Senate Business, Professions, and Economic Development Committee today. AB 573, which would provide aid to students harmed by Corinthian Colleges, is a bipartisan effort coauthored by Speaker Toni G. Atkins and Assembly Minority Leader Kristin Olsen.
“AB 573 represents the Assembly's bipartisan effort to provide relief and opportunity to the 13,000 California students harmed by the closure of Corinthian Colleges,” said Assemblymember Medina. “Current state and federal laws provide some relief to students affected, but this bill ensures all California students are fully protected.”
AB 573, which passed through the Senate Business and Professions Committee, now heads to the Senate Education Committee.
