(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside), a host of medical students, other lawmakers and California Medical Association representatives gathered on the steps of the State Capitol to show their support for a package of legislation designed to deal with the growing physician shortage in California. Assemblymember Medina's bill, AB 27, would provide $15 million annually for the UC Riverside School of Medicine, set to open its doors in August of 2013. (Sacramento) -- California State Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside) adjourned the Assembly in memory of Riverside Police Officer Michael Crain. Officer Crain was tragically shot and killed in the line of duty. Officer Crain was on the Riverside Police Department for 11 years. Prior to that, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
