Assemblymember Marty Block (AD-78) today issued the following statement after Governor Schwarzenegger released the May Revision of his 2010-2011 budget proposal:
“With today’s announcement we are once again reminded that there will be no easy choices when it comes to getting our state’s fiscal house in order. In the face of a $19.1 billion deficit, the May Revision reflects the many painful and difficult choices that lie ahead, while reinforcing the need to protect critical funding to support California’s colleges and universities. At a time of economic uncertainty, when we are being asked to provide more with less, our public education systems must remain a priority. Investing in higher education is a proven job creator, critical to our state’s long-term economic recovery and it is reassuring to see higher education programs preserved in this proposal.”
