(Sacramento) - Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) is the new Assemblywoman for the 80th District, which includes portions of the cities of San Diego, Chula Vista and National City in southern San Diego County. She was sworn into office by Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez as her children and father watched. "I am humbled to have the opportunity to serve our community in this new role," said Gonzalez. "I am anxious to get to work to help ensure all Californians have the opportunity to pursue good-paying jobs that allow people to take care of their families and create a better future for their children." Assemblywoman Gonzalez fills the vacant seat left by Ben Hueso, who was elected to the state Senate. Here's more in this Assembly Access video.
