AB 47 by Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) passed out of the Senate Education Committee and has been re-referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee. The Preschool for All Act requires the state to provide funding for all children who are eligible for the state preschool program, who do not have access to Transitional Kindergarten or Head Start, with the opportunity to enroll in the program. AB 252 by Assemblymember Chris Holden (D-Pasadena) passed out of the Senate Education Committee and has been re-referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee. AB 252 would establish a grant program to help school districts meet the costs associated with creating Advanced Placement (AP) courses in the STEM fields - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. AB 931 by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks) passed out of the Senate Governance and Finance Committee and has been re-referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee. AB 35 by Assemblymember David Chiu (D-San Francisco) and Speaker Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) will be heard in the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee on July 14, 2015. This bill increases the amount of state low income housing tax credits by $300 million and will also leverage an estimated $600 million in federal funds that would otherwise not come to California. AB 870 by Assemblymember Ken Cooley (D-Rancho Cordova) will be heard in the Senate Appropriations Committee on July 13, 2015. AB 870 supports "rapid rehousing" principles by creating a pilot program and allocating $2 million over 2 years to this end to four counties to be selected by the Department of Housing and Community Development. AB 1354 by Assemblymember Bill Dodd (D-Napa) will be heard in the Senate Governmental Organization Committee on July 14, 2015. The Equal Pay for Equal Work Act of 2015 requires an employer with 100 or more employees to submit a nondiscrimination program to the Department of Fair Employment and Housing and to submit periodic reports of this compliance with that program.
