SACRAMENTO – Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles) today announced he has appointed Assemblymember Anthony Portantino (D-La Cañada Flintridge) to the California Film Commission.

“California’s entertainment industry — a major source of jobs and an important part of our history and culture — has had no greater champion than Anthony Portantino,” Pérez said. “I know through his service on the California Film Commission Assemblymember Portantino will continue to provide strong leadership to help keep film production and jobs here in California where they belong.”

Portantino, who also serves as Chair of the Assembly Select Committee on the Preservation of California’s Entertainment Industry, fills a legislative vacancy on the commission to be appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly. His term is effective as of today.  Legislative terms on the commission are for four years or the end of the appointee’s term, whichever comes first.
