SACRAMENTO – Assembly Speaker Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) released the following statement regarding Chancellor Timothy P. White’s remarks about the state of the California State University system:
“The 2025 goals Chancellor White outlined in his State of the CSU address today are an ambitious plan to reduce graduation times and improve outcomes for students—and I think it’s great CSU is committed to achieving those goals without burdening students and their families with additional fee increases. CSU’s plan means California will have 100,000 more degree holders than we would otherwise, and that will be very valuable to our remaining competitive in the global economy. If we are to achieve these goals the State of California must be a strong partner with – and investor in – our systems of higher education.”
Speaker Atkins serves as a CSU Trustee and a University of California Regent.
