SACRAMENTO – Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles) issued the following statement regarding today’s news that California added 32,000 jobs in January and that the state will receive up to $700 million in federal funds to help stabilize the housing market:

"Californians received excellent news today: for the first time in two months, California posted an increase in job creation, and the federal government announced that California is eligible for up to $700 million to prevent foreclosures and help bring stability to the housing market. This is excellent news that will bring relief to California families hit hard by the recession, and only serves to underscore how important it is that California’s leaders focus like a laser beam on creating quality, high-paying jobs to help the more than 2.2 million Californians still unemployed."
