Fiscal Year Begins With Spending Plan in Place that Closes Deficit, Eliminates 75 Percent of Ongoing Structural Deficit
SACRAMENTO - Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement on the Governor's signing of the California Budget:
"Today's signing marks the conclusion of one of the more memorable budget processes in recent memory. Democrats have made the tough decisions necessary to help get control of our finances by eliminating more than 75 percent of our structural deficit. As we move forward we will continue to press the case for new revenues to close the remainder of the gap so that we can make the kind of investments that will create jobs and grow our economy out of the recession."
