SACRAMENTO – Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement on passing an on-time and balanced state budget:

“Today’s budget actions have accomplished a number of important long-term objectives for California; namely eliminating the decades old structural deficit, protecting public education and ensuring California’s UC and CSU students will not face another year of fee hikes. In addition, the budget we passed today will leave California with a reserve fund more than $800 million next year, which will grow to $3 billion in three years. Even though we had to make many difficult decisions to close California’s budget deficit, I am proud of my colleagues for making the tough choices necessary to bring an end to the constant cycle of deficits we’ve faced over the last several years.”
