Over $140 million in state funding secured for Assembly District 27

SACRAMENTO – Assemblywoman Soria announced today over $140 million has been approved in the state budget to benefit communities in Assembly District 27.

The $140 million in funding will support the construction of a community and public safety center/police station, a fire and emergency operations center, public parks, community centers and street improvements.

“This funding will benefit communities across the district by building green spaces, providing community gathering areas and recreational opportunities, increasing public safety and making investments in infrastructure improvements to areas most in need,” said Assemblywoman Soria.

Assembly District 27 investments include:

  • $4 million for a Fire Station and Emergency Operations Center in the City of Merced
  • $1.1 million for the Lions Town and Country Park in the City of Madera
  • $8 million for a Community Center in the City of Mendota
  • $3 million for the Community Public Safety Center/Police Station in the City of Kerman
  • $3.5 million for a Public Park in the Franklin-Beachwood unincorporated community
  • $3 million for Complete Streets Project in the small agricultural community of Tranquility
  • Assemblywoman Soria also was successful in securing $20 million in state funding for flood recovery efforts in Planada and $100 million to build affordable student housingThe state budget also includes $150 million for the Distressed Hospital Loan Program to assist Madera Community Hospital re-open.
