ASSEMBLYMEMBER LISA CALDERON ANNOUNCES LEGISLATIVE BUDGET ALLOCATIONS

SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Lisa Calderon (D-Whitter) is pleased to announce securing $4.25 million in this year’s States budget for projects in the 56th Assembly District.

“This funding will establish new open park space, increase public safety, provide additional youth and community resources,” stated Assemblymember Calderon. “I want to thank my colleagues in the Legislature and the Governor for including the following investments within this year’s Budget:”

  • $1 million to the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation to convert a shuttered landfill into the Los Angeles County’s first regional park in over 30 years.
  • $1 million to the City of Whittier for the reconstruction of the Historic Los Angeles County Fire Station 17 to upgrade outdated facilities and expand operations to include a paramedic unit.
  • $1 million to the City of Pico Rivera to transform an underutilized vacant lot into the City of Pico Rivera’s first dog park.
  • $500,000 to the Los Angeles County Library to support programming and services by increasing access to early learning and culturally based programming.
  • $250,000 to the City of Walnut to support Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements at Snow Creek Park.
  • $250,000 to the City of Diamond Bar to support Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements at Heritage Park.
  • $250,000 to the YMCA of Greater Whittier Uptown Family Center for facility renovations to improve accessibility, safety, and equity.

“These beneficial projects provide improved health and wellness, greater social interactions, and increased educational opportunities for the communities I represent. I look forward to continuing to work alongside local leaders towards the completion of these projects.”
