Speaker Robert Rivas Appoints Assemblymember Blanca Pacheco as Chair of the Committee on Rules

Sacramento, CA – Today, California State Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas (AD – 29) appointed Assemblymember Blanca Pacheco (AD – 64) to Chair of the California State Assembly Committee on Rules.

“I thank Speaker Rivas for appointing me as Chair of the Rules Committee,” said Assemblymember Pacheco. “I appreciate the Speaker’s confidence, and I’m eager to lead a committee with a mission to keep the Assembly running effectively for all Californians.”

“The Committee on Rules plays an essential role in making sure the Assembly is efficient and accountable to Californians. Although she is new to the Assembly, Assemblymember Pacheco’s long history of local service in her community makes her a strong fit for this role,” Speaker Robert Rivas said. “I look forward to working with Blanca to make sure that the Assembly operates with integrity and efficiency.”

Assemblymember Pacheco was elected to the California State Assembly in November 2022. Prior to her election, Pacheco served on the Downey City Council beginning in 2016, and served two terms as Mayor, in 2020 and 2022. She served as President of the League of California Cities Los Angeles Division and was the first elected official from Downey to serve in this position. Pacheco is a former Chair of the Housing, Community, and Economic Development Policy Committee and served on the League of California Cities’ State Board as an at-large director.
