Los Angeles Assemblymember Helps Lead Volunteers in Annual Homeless Count

For immediate release:

LOS ANGELES, California – (January 25, 2024) – Assemblymember Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D-South Los Angeles) will lead a group of 60 volunteers on the final day of the greater Los Angeles Homeless Count, an annual event aimed at accurately assessing the current number of individuals within the city experiencing homelessness.

“The goal is to have a greater understanding of the number of families and individuals who have no shelter or permanent living accommodations,” said Assemblymember Jones-Sawyer. “Having an accurate count means resources can be matched to provide those in need of housing and other resources including medical, mental health care, and job training and placement.”

Volunteers are spread across the 57th Assembly District to count those living on the streets of Los Angeles. The count is expected to take five hours.
