“It is absolutely imperative that we all work together to keep our communities clean regardless of zip codes,” said Assembly Member Santiago. “That’s why this Earth Day weekend we are out here with community leaders to not only clean up illegal dumping and litter but remind each other to pick up trash and throw away litter so we all do our part 365 days of the year.”

“We ask all Californians to be part of the solution and dispose of trash responsibly,” said Caltrans District 7 Deputy Director Blanca Rodriguez. “We thank Senator Maria Elena Durazo, Assemblymember Miguel Santiago and the Boyle Heights community for coming out today and helping to clean up their neighborhood. We also appreciate the continuous partnership of the Assemblymember and Senator in supporting our efforts for clean and beautiful communities.”

Last year on Caltrans property (on or near freeways) in Assembly District 54 (represented by Assembly Member Santiago), Caltrans District 7 has removed 12,860 cubic yards of litter, 1,581,630 sq. ft. of graffiti and 7,699 cubic yards of debris. Constituents who see illegal dumping and litter on Caltrans property are encouraged to submit a service ticket to https://csr.dot.ca.gov/.
